CISCE cancels ICSE, ISC compartment examinations, new re-evaluation process in 10 points

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has announced some significant changes for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and Indian School Certificate (ISC) Class 12 board exams, starting from the year 2024. One of the key changes is the introduction of re-evaluation of answer scripts, along with the existing recheck option, after the declaration of results. The other being cancellation of compartment exams for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and Indian School Certificate (ISC) Class 12 board exams. ISC Class 12th exams start from 12 February.

Here are 10 things to know about changes announced by CISCE ;

*Students can now request a thorough review of their answer scripts to ensure the accuracy of the subject grades awarded. The application for re-evaluation must be submitted online within the specified time frame, which will be notified on the CISCE website

*It is important to note that the Compartment Examination will be discontinued from the year 2024 onwards. Instead, students will have the opportunity to take the Improvement Examination in a maximum of two subjects.

*This change allows students to focus on improving their performance in specific subjects and eliminates the need for compartment exams.

*For those interested in the re-evaluation process, certain guidelines must be followed. The application for re- evaluation must be submitted online, accompanied by a fee of Rs. 1,500 per subject/paper, as prescribed by CISCE.

*It is crucial to remember that the charges paid for re-evaluation are non-refundable.

*The re-evaluation results will be declared within three weeks on the CISCE website. The re-evaluation of answer scripts will be conducted by competent individuals appointed by the Chief Executive and Secretary of CISCE.

*The final marks awarded, whether increased or decreased, after the re-evaluation will be considered as the final marks for the subject. In addition to these changes, students will be allowed to appear in a maximum of two subjects for the main examination.

*If a subject has multiple papers, such as English, Science, or History Civics & Geography, students can choose any one or more papers of that subject.

*It is important for schools and candidates to note that enquiries concerning examination results should be made only for results significantly below the standard suggested by the candidate’s schoolwork in the subject.

*The enquiries should be made by the Head of the School to the Chief Executive and Secretary of CISCE within the specified timeline
